Here is one for you guys. I am working on a mid to long range dedicated marksman class and I am torn between these two weapons. I know it might seem a strange comparison. However, these two weapons set up the way I perfer to play them actually handle the role very similarly. I am running the SMR with Hyprid optic and adjustable stock, the SVU I am running ACOG and Extended Clip. I haven't playedthe SVU in about 2 months on the wii u. But, I played though it with the double weapon xp weekend and I now remember why I liked it so much starting out. The remainder of the class is the same for both weapons, I am just trying to figure out which rifle to use.
The SVU-AS and SMR have about the same zoom with their respective scopes and the same number of shots to kill out to around 40 meters which is where most fights this class will have take place. The SVU has higher base damage and doesn't drop off at long range meaning it's always a 2 hit kill over a 3. Also, it can wall bang better since the SMR is always a 3 hit kill through cover without head shots. They both have about the same fire rate and 17 rounds vs 20 really doesn't matter that much. I think the SVU reloads a little quicker than the SMR but it's negligable. Finally, the SVU-AS has a one hit head shot kill.
On the other side of the coin, the SMR has an ADS time that is .15 seconds faster, which in close range can make all the differnece. It also has about twice the strafing speed ADS and slightly better hip fire not that I rely on that with this class at all. Both rifles serve the same function killing in 2 hits under most circumstances, I am just trying to pick one. The remainder of the class is this if it matters.
