LMG the stepchild

Started this in another response and decided to break it out.

I hate how the LMG is treated in most COD games! I never see people using it and in reality it should be one of the best classes in the game.

I honestly think it's a design issue. I think it has been treated like an after thought in most COD games except BO2. I used to love the HAMR in BO2. It was powerful and handled easy. It responded like an AR and took down the target.

When I got Ghosts I equiped an LMG shot my first guy and had 3 hit markers and I died. WTF!! Started to move in my next life, had this big swaying action as i moved around the map. Finally found my next target, brought up my gun real slow, amazingly got the first shot off, again got a few hit markers and then was kill by their fast firing SMG. I have never picked up the LMG again.

 

A LMG is an area control weapon! It has a larger caliber and should take out an enemy in one or two shots!. I understand they are bulky and heavy. This is their downside but they have a very big upside. I will give up mobility and slow response IF I am able to take advantage of what an LMG brings to the fight. A massize amount of high damage firepower. BUT unfortunantly it is treated like a low end AR in this game. Crappy mobility and handling and a damage output which has no advantage over the AR with damage attachments. It is as if it is included just to have the class but it is certainly not where focus has been placed. Like one person wrote on another post, there's a hipfiring gun in this game called the CHAINSAW! But nobody uses it. Why? Because it has less damage output then a remington! So, all the disadvantages with none of the advantages.

I recognize that some people are skilled in using the LMG, this is more about the class in general.
